Single Ply Membrane

St Dominic’s Church, Glasgow

Background

St Dominic’s Church serves the community in the G33 area of Glasgow within the Diocese of Motherwell. The old standing-seam metal clad roof of the Church was in need of refurbishment. With a limited budget to work with, Fatra was consulted to provide a value engineered roofing solution to the client.

The project consisted of various intricate pitched and sloped roof sections, totalling 750m2. Local Fatra approved installer Rancel Roofing & Cladding was employed to carry out the refurbishment works.

Notable benefits

The client wanted to achieve the same standing-seam aesthetic as the old roof whilst keeping costs within budget. Accordingly, for the roof refurbishment, Fatra proposed the use of Fatra FF814 standing-seam profiles. These are a PVC ancillary accessory that are heat welded to the Fatra FF810 waterproofing membrane, creating the desired standing-seam effect at a fraction of the cost of Zinc metal.

The lap-fixed FF810 membrane was quick to install with fixing centres of 150mm along the laps. The insulated warm roof was completed with the Fatra FF814 standing-seam profile, creating a nice visual finish.

Rancel Roofing & Cladding completed the project in July 2020 and it was delivered with the benefit of a 20 year product guarantee.

Fatra FF810 is available from Fatra UK Ltd and can only be installed by Fatra trained and licensed contractors.
