Background
The roof areas at Kingsmead Retail Park, an existing development located in Farnborough, were in need of refurbishment. With energy efficiency of buildings coming under increased scrutiny, the need to meet standards were a priority for the client. Fatra’s services were enlisted to provide a robust waterproofing solution to upgrade the existing roof areas in order to meet those standards.
Cost efficiencies were a big consideration for the client as the total area of this project was 2400m2. As such it was determined that the Fatra FF810 mechanically fixed single ply membrane waterproofing system was the best solution to overlay and upgrade the existing metal standing seam roof areas.
Notable benefits
The existing structure consisted of metal roofs with standing seam profiles throughout. To overcome these profiles and overlay the Fatra FF810 membrane, the insulation boards had to be routed out at specific centres that suited those of the metal standing seam profiles. The result is a continuous waterproofing solution that integrates nicely while also providing a robust upgrade to the roof areas.
The project was completed in February 2020 and was delivered with the benefit of a 20 year product guarantee.
