CASE STUDY: Vision Chertsey

Using FF807 membrane banded to replicate a standing seam roof

When Explore Living were building their high specification development in north Surrey they were faced with the problem of installing numerous solar thermal panels. The panels needed over 250 supports plus pipe work to penetrate the metal roof, an expensive detail.

Fatra were asked to look at the problems and proposed a change to a membrane roof with standing seam profiles. The panel supports were waterproofed using a specially designed detail sourced by Fatra. The change in roof design was approved by Explore Living and the local planners.

Byford Roofing Services Ltd won the contract and installed over 3000m2 of Fatra FF807 fleece backed membrane. The insulation was installed in layers and mechanically fixed in place to follow the curve of the roof. The ridges and valleys of the roof were simply waterproofed using the Fatra membranes and roof lights and other penetrations were also completed to a high standard.

The completed roof not only looks pleasing, but also adds to the environmental aspirations of the project by benefiting from Fatras' green credentials.
